ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Amanda Day BA Arts (Dance), Grad Dip Ed (Dance), RAD Dip Dance Teaching Studies, RAD RTS

Amanda has been involved in dance for over 35 years and has completed countless exams, competitions, concerts and productions as a dancer and teacher. She values the importance of a quality dance education and therefore became suitably qualified, certified and experienced before establishing Dance Coaching Australia.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • Graduate of the Specialist Ballet and Contemporary Dance Programs of John Curtin College of the Arts, Fremantle (Distinction, 2002).

  • Selected to perform in Performing Arts Perspectives, a showcase of Western Australia's top Dance graduates.

  • Performed professionally at various corporate, commercial, education and private events.

  • 23 years + dance teaching and 7 years examining dance.

  • Trained by Australia's most renowned teachers including Dame Lucette Aldous AC, Nanette Hassall AM, Marilyn Jones OBE, June Stevens and Samantha Leeman.

  • Performed at the Australian Youth Dance Festival in NSW 2001.

  • Work placement in a professional contemporary dance company.

  • Workshops at Brent Street, Tanya Pearson Academy, Marie Walton-Mahon and Sydney Dance Company.

  • Previous teaching appointments include John Curtin College of the Arts Gifted and Talented Ballet & Contemporary teacher, Australian Youth Dance Theatre, Tiny Tutus, primary schools, high schools and dance schools. 

  • Secondary school specialist dance teacher of 17+ years.

  • Choreographer of high school productions including Hairspray, Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Aladdin, Shrek and Frozen staged at various theatres including the Heath Ledger Theatre, Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.

FORMAL DANCE AND TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Graduate of WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) 3 year full time dance degree course (BA Arts, Dance).

  • Graduate of Edith Cowan Universities Graduate Diploma of Education (Dance major/Drama minor).

  • Graduate of Royal Academy of Dance’s 2 year Diploma of Dance Teaching Studies (DDTS) course for qualified and experienced teachers.

  • RAD Registered Teacher Status

  • Rambert Grades Member

  • Acrobatic Arts Certified Teacher

  • Comdance Member

  • TRBWA Full Member (qualified and practising school teacher)

BUSINESS DIRECTOR

Sarah McKenzie

Sarah has been in the finance industry for over 18 years, 10 of those as a bank manager and more recently as a Premiere Banking Associate. She danced for ten years as a child including exams, competitions and concerts and is now a Mum of two dancing daughters.
